Elections Matter for Parental Rights
October 7, 2026

This week, I want to issue a quick reminder: the 2026 elections are a little less than a month away, and your vote matters for parental rights.
Even when parental rights are not featured in election rhetoric or the nightly news cycle, who you vote for makes a difference.
The Parental Rights Foundation is a non-partisan education and policy organization, so we aren’t going to tell you who you should vote for. But I would encourage you to do the research, know where your candidates stand, and vote for the one who will best protect your liberty to direct the upbringing, education, and care of your minor children!
I also want to point out the importance of other ballot initiatives, which often affect parental rights regardless of their stated purpose. This year, for instance, my home state of Virginia is facing three ballot measures, none of them on parents, but one of which would have a devastating effect on parental rights in the Commonwealth, no matter how young or old your child may be. (If you live in Virginia, watch for an update on that in a separate email.)
It is not our aim to tell you how to vote or who to vote for. But please take the time to know what is on your ballot and then make sure you cast your vote in a way that will best preserve your vital role in the life of your child.
I know it can be a real challenge to find the truth behind all the election campaign rhetoric. Sometimes it seems easier to just stay home. But aren’t our children worth the work?
This Election Day, protect children by empowering parents with your vote.
